š„Heritage Transformation: The Nielsen's Grand Revivalš„
We've breathed new life into The Nielsen Restaurant while honouring its rich heritage. Walking in, you're greeted by an elegant entryway featuring the venue's name inlaid in the meticulously restored floor - a technical triumph that preserved historical elements despite significant damage.
Rather than demolishing (which would have been the straightforward solution), our team engineered a preservation solution that maintained the building's integrity while ensuring structural soundness.
Design details by BJB Architects in conjunction with Larissa Orso from Larissa Leigh Interiors, connect throughout the space. The joinery was delivered by our trusted partners at Stream Line Joinery. Roof ridge lines subtly echoed in floor patterns and continued in the custom bar bulkhead. We even preserved the original chimney hidden in staff areas - these authentic touches give the space its true character and soul. There's this lovely conversation happening between different elements of the building.
The complete transformation includes the main restaurant/Kiosk, The Beach Club, and The Pavilion areas, all designed to enhance the building's original beauty.
Our client Sydney Restaurant Group was quite emotional at witnessing the completion of this project. Next time you dine here, look down - there's quite a story beneath your feet! We are very proud of this one.
What an achievement team! Dayne Cox, Nick Gladstone&Saaniya Kadamā
